Abstract

This research aims to analyze and describe the profile and characteristics of the village as well as the socio-economic conditions in Rimbo Panjang Village, Tambang District, Kampar Regency, Riau Province, Indonesia. This research design used a qualitative and descriptive approach. The data analysis technique used the Rapid Rural Appraisal (RRA) method. Data collection techniques were taken from representative samples, in-depth interviews and observations. The results show that village officials and heads of socio-economic groups are the main actors in making village decisions. There are two main socio-economic problems, namely poverty and unemployment. Analysis of the programs provided by the government in the form of short-term assistance programs in the first stage has a positive impact, the second stage is a community empowerment program to improve the standard of living and social life of the community in first stage, and the third stage has been effective in improving community welfare, but is still short term and tentative as well as imaging. Based on the research findings, it is suggested that a scholarship program for underprivileged children, providing job opportunities based on community expertise and providing home-based businesses for housewives to help the family economy.
